Race Local, Go Global: 2026 Worlds Qualifying
Triathlon Alberta has several opportunities available across the province for athletes aiming to secure a spot on Team Canada for the 2026 World Triathlon Age Group and Multisport World Championships. This initiative offers Alberta’s age-group athletes the opportunity to compete on the global stage in one of the sport’s most prestigious events.
Athletes across the province can qualify through a series of sanctioned events scheduled throughout the 2025 season. Spots are available in various disciplines, including sprint triathlon, duathlon, aquathlon, and cross triathlon. Qualification is based on race performance and age group placement, as outlined by Triathlon Canada.
“Qualifying for a World Championship is a significant achievement for many athletes,” said Sebastian Porten, Executive Director of Triathlon Alberta. “It provides competitors with the chance to represent not only Alberta but the entire country on the world stage. It’s an experience that challenges athletes to reach new heights.”
To be eligible, athletes must be members in good standing with Triathlon Alberta and must declare their intent to qualify before participating in a designated qualifying event. Each event will allocate a limited number of spots per age category, typically awarded to the top finishers who meet time and placement criteria. Qualifying details can be found on Triathlon Canada's website here.
